English to Farsi Translation

Farsi – also known as Iranian Persian – is an Indo-Iranian language and the national language of Iran. Unlike English, Farsi uses a specific Arabic script called Perso-Arabic which is one of the biggest challenges for Farsi translators. Farsi translators must learn the new scripture and characters when translating documents. Moreover, this script is written and read from right to left, the opposite way we read and write in English.

Therefore, assigning expert Farsi translators will enable you translate English to Farsi to convey the sentiments behind a document and translate confusing turns of phrases for your convenience. For example, there are three different words for soup in Farsi due to its consistency. “Tilit” refers to a soup “where you put pieces of bread in the soup and let the bread soak up the soup.” On the other hand, watery soups are called “âb-gusht” (or dizi) or “eshkeneh,” whereas thicker soups are called “âsh”.
Thankfully, translating English to Farsi is easier by the language’s simplistic formal grammar. There is no noun inflection, no gender, and thus no corresponding adjectival agreement. That said, the Farsi language is full of idiomatic phrases which are problematic when performing literal Farsi translations. Whenever you translate English to Farsi, these need to be carefully understood for your meaning to get across as intended.

Areas of Expertise

Farsi is a popular language in the Central Asian and Middle Eastern countries of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iraq and Azerbaijan. With an increase of business and governmental interactions with these countries, the need for accurate and effective communications with Farsi translators is huge. In fact, the US Government has designated Farsi as a “critical need language” for intelligence, military and diplomatic activities.

Rest assured we have a large skilled network of native Farsi speakers (and its related dialects) on hand to accomplish your goals professionally. Regardless of your industry or subject matter, we are confident in our ability to match your project with a uniquely qualified Farsi translator, transcriptionist, transcreation specialist or voice over talent. Our complete service offerings are available to and from Farsi, Dari and Tajik versions of the Persian language.
Many different industries need professional Farsi translation services to help enter a global market and expand their reach. It is always beneficial to use a Farsi translator specialising in your industry. Most fields have unique terminology or set phrases that are difficult for those not “in-the-know” to wrap their heads around. On the other hand, opting for translators with industry expertise ensures your message comes across as intended.

Farsi Translation Tips & Insights

Our Farsi translation services lead the global market, and our language experts all know what makes a great translation. Below are two key considerations when translating from English to Farsi or vice versa for accurate content every time.

Understand Right-to-Left Formatting

Farsi uses an Arabic script called Perso-Arabic. As a Semitic language, all Arabic scripts are written from right to left rather than left to right. This is vital when translating English to Farsi as it has a significant impact on the page layout. Your translation to Farsi must flip graphics and tables alongside changing the words themselves. Using high-quality translation services ensures this is never forgotten about.

Understand Persian Dialects

Farsi is one of the more established dialects of the Persian language which is spoken in Iran. Therefore, it is also known as Iranian Persian. However, there are two other major dialect divisions of the Perian language: Dari Persian which is spoken in Afghanistan, and Tajik Persian which is spoken in Tajikistan and Central Asia.
Before appointing your translation agency to work on your project, check if they have the right branch of the Persian language for your target market. Although the three strains are mutually intelligible, choosing the right dialect helps to ensure you connect and engage with your audience.
